What does a neck lift treat, and what does Rewind publish about it?

The operation in one paragraph

A neck lift treats the two tissues that let a jaw line dissolve into the throat: skin that has stopped retracting, and the platysma, the broad muscle sheet running up the front of the neck that slackens with age. The surgery tightens that muscle so it carries tension again and redrapes the skin over the outline underneath. The absence is worth stating plainly, because three operations at this clinic touch the same stretch of throat and they are not substitutes for one another. One empties a fat compartment that sits beneath the neck muscle. One suctions the fat layer above it. This one works on the muscle and on the skin. Which of the three your profile needs is a finding at the chair, and that finding decides how far an incision travels far more than any preference you arrive with.

English adds its own confusion on top. The phrase neck lift is used abroad for everything from a short submental tightening to a full cervicofacial operation that opens in front of and behind both ears. Which tissue does a neck lift claim, and where does it hand over?

Reading a neck is mostly a matter of deciding which of four things is doing the visible work. Rewind prices each of them separately, so the columns below are not a description of one procedure growing larger; they are four different listings, and a plan only collects more than one of them if the examination says so.

Skin that no longer retracts
Elasticity falls with age and with weight that has come and gone. Skin in that state will not shrink onto a slimmer outline on its own, and removing fat beneath it can leave it hanging. This is the finding a lift answers, because skin has to be moved and trimmed; emptying it underneath changes nothing.

The platysma
The muscle sheet across the front of the neck. Rewind's own surgical text describes binding a slackened platysma so it holds tension again, and names the blurred border between jaw and neck as what that step is for. A neck whose bands stand out when it tenses is a neck where the muscle is part of the answer.

What is holding the neck full: skin, muscle, or fat

Skin is assessed by how it behaves when it is lifted and released. The platysma shows itself when the neck is tensed, as vertical bands or as a soft border where the jaw should be sharp. Fat is judged in profile and by depth, since one compartment sits above the muscle and one below it. These are three separate findings and they mix in most necks.

A neck is the region where a good face operation is most often undone, and the region most often handed to whatever was already being done above it. Two things decide whether it is treated on its own terms: whether the finding is read correctly, and whether the fee schedule lets you say no to the parts you do not need.

Neck lift in Seoul — what patients want settled before a date

What is a neck lift actually lifting?
Skin and the platysma. Rewind's surgical text describes binding a slackened platysma until it holds tension again, and names the softened border between jaw and throat as what that corrects. Skin is then redraped over the new outline and the surplus removed by measurement. Fat compartments are separate listings.
Where does the clinic's neck lift stop and its deep-neck operation begin?
At the tissue. A neck lift is written for laxity in skin and muscle; the deep neck lift exists for fat that clings underneath the neck muscle and has to be extracted by hand. They are separate lines on the schedule and neither includes the other by default.
Why does this page refuse to state the incisions or the anaesthetic?
Because Rewind has not published them for this listing. The clinic documents technique in detail for the operations that have their own Korean surgical pages, and a neck lift is not among them. Estimating an incision map from a different operation would be invention, so the surgeon supplies it at the examination.
My weight is stable but my neck still hangs. Is fat removal the answer?

What happens to sensation in the neck afterwards?
Numbness in the skin of the neck and under the chin is common after neck surgery and typically recedes gradually over months. Injury to the nerve carrying sensation around the ear is a recognised risk of lifting in this region, and the anatomy of those zones appears in the literature below.
Does smoking really change whether I can have this operation?
It changes the risk enough to be discussed before a date. Nicotine narrows the small vessels that keep the edge of a redraped flap alive, and wound-healing problems in the neck are considerably more likely in smokers. Rewind raises this at the examination, and stopping is not a formality.
