What is Ultherapy Prime?

The short answer

Ultherapy Prime is a HIFU treatment — high-intensity focused ultrasound. Energy passes through the surface of the skin without damaging it and is focused on the deep fascial layer, where it stimulates collagen and contracts the tissue. Nothing is cut, and nothing is left under the skin.

Microfocused ultrasound has been studied across the face and neck and, in separate trials, on the brow, the under-eye and the body. The areas below are the ones the published literature covers; your own plan is drawn at consultation.

Mechanism

How does ultrasound lift skin without an incision?

Ultrasound can be focused the way light is focused through a lens. The surface stays cool while a point deep inside the tissue reaches coagulation temperature — a few cubic millimetres at a time. Those points heal as new collagen, and the tissue around them contracts.

The surface is not the target

Energy travels through the epidermis and dermis without breaking them, which is why there is no wound to care for afterwards and why daily activity resumes the same day.

02Focus

Energy converges on the fascial layer

The Rewind documentation describes the target as the deep fascial layer — the same connective plane a surgeon works with in a lift. Discrete thermal points are created there rather than a broad heating of the skin.

03Contract

Tissue contracts, then rebuilds

Immediate contraction is followed by a slower collagen response over the following months. Histology studies of focused ultrasound in Asian skin describe both stages.

Imaging before energy

Microfocused ultrasound with visualization lets the operator see the layers on screen before delivering a line. Depth is chosen against what is actually there, which matters most over bone, implants and thin skin.

Rewind publishes one list price per plan. The figure you are quoted at consultation is the figure below — the number of lines is what changes, not the rate.

What happens after the treatment?

Rewind's own guidance for device lifting is short, and it is worth following exactly. Bruising or swelling can appear and settles within a few days; daily activity is possible straight away.

Collagen continues to respond after the session. Rewind records device lifting results lasting from six months to over a year, depending on skin condition and plan.

Any energy-based treatment carries risk, including temporary redness, swelling, bruising, altered sensation and, rarely, nerve irritation. Tell the doctor about every treatment you have had in the same area before your session.

What is Ultherapy Prime?

Is Ultherapy Prime surgery?
No. Nothing is cut and nothing is placed under the skin. Because the surface stays intact, there is no wound to care for afterwards.
How deep does the ultrasound energy reach?
The target is the deep fascial layer, the same connective plane a surgeon works with during a lift. Imaging-guided systems let the operator see that layer on screen before any energy is delivered.
Which areas can be treated?
Focused ultrasound has been studied on the lower face, jawline, submental area and neck, and in separate trials on the brow, the under-eye area and the chest. Your own coverage is decided with the doctor at consultation.
How many lines will I need?
Rewind offers a 300-line plan and a 600-line plan. Which one suits you depends on how much area is being covered, and the doctor sets this after examining your face.
How long do the results last?
Rewind records that device lifting results can last from six months to over a year. The range depends on skin condition and on which lifting plan was used.
Does Ultherapy Prime hurt?
Sensation varies between patients and is discussed before the session begins. Rewind does not publish a fixed anaesthesia protocol for this treatment, so raise comfort options with the doctor when you book.
When can I go back to work?
Daily activity is possible immediately after the session. Bruising or swelling can appear and settles within a few days.
What should I avoid afterwards?
Avoid sauna, strenuous exercise and alcohol on the day of treatment. Do not rub or press the treated area for one to two days, and keep up moisturising and sun protection.
How is Ultherapy Prime different from Thermage FLX?
Ultherapy Prime focuses ultrasound on the deep fascial layer. Thermage FLX delivers radiofrequency heat in the dermis to contract collagen and stimulate fibroblasts. Rewind holds both devices and plans them separately.
Can Ultherapy Prime replace a facelift?
No. Focused ultrasound tightens tissue that still has elasticity. Where skin and deeper layers have already descended, the doctor will say so at consultation and explain the surgical options.
Who will see me at Rewind, and can I be seen in English?
Rewind is a single-surgeon practice. The medical director, Dr. Jonghwan Choi, sees every patient at consultation and sets the plan. Interpreter-assisted consultations are available for international patients, and Rewind is a KHIDI-registered institution for foreign patients.
