How many days should you stay in Korea after a facelift?

The short answer

Rewind does not publish a fixed number of days, and this page will not invent one. What the clinic does publish sets the frame: a compression dressing for about one week after a full or mini facelift, early swelling and tightness because the dissection is wide, and at least four weeks without strenuous exercise, sauna or steam rooms. When sutures come out and when you are cleared to fly are confirmed by the surgeon, at consultation and again at the post-operative review, so the length of your stay is agreed with the clinic before flights are booked.

Travelling for a facelift turns recovery into a question of logistics. At home, a patient can return to the surgeon on any day of the week; in Seoul, every review has to fit between a flight in and a flight out. The practical approach is to plan the trip around the milestones the surgeon needs to see, and to leave room in case one of them moves.

01Day 0

Surgery, then the dressing goes on

After the operation a compression dressing is placed. Arrange for someone to accompany you back to your accommodation, and choose a place to stay close to the clinic in Apgujeong.

02Week 1

Swelling and tightness at their height

The dissection in a facelift is wide, so early swelling and a stiff, heavy feeling are expected. Keep the dressing on as instructed, rest, and avoid pressing on or rubbing the operated areas.

03Review

The visit that frees the rest of the trip

Once the surgeon has checked the incision line, suture removal and the day you may fly are confirmed. Light daily activity comes back gradually from here.

04Weeks 2-4

Restrictions that travel home with you

Strenuous exercise, sauna and steam rooms remain off limits for at least four weeks, while alcohol, smoking and strong massage are avoided for the period the surgeon sets.

Listed fees include the anaesthetic fee, with VAT added. Accommodation, meals and flights for the recovery stay sit outside every fee.

A combined plan quoted at ₩14,000,000 keeps both recoveries inside one trip and one review schedule, where the full lift at ₩9,000,000 and a later neck lift would mean two separate trips.

After you fly

Facelift recovery that continues once you are home

Leaving Seoul ends the review schedule. Recovery carries on for weeks after the flight, and Rewind's instructions for facial lifting travel with you. A 2006 systematic review found that professional interpreters improved clinical care for patients with limited English, so ask for your aftercare instructions in a language you read fluently.

Facelift surgery carries risks including bleeding and haematoma, infection, prolonged swelling, asymmetry, numbness or altered sensation, facial nerve injury, and a scar that widens or heals poorly. Recovery speed varies between individuals, and the flight date is always the surgeon's decision after review.
