Juvelook or Rejuran: which one answers your skin?

The short answer

Choose by the complaint. Juvelook is a collagen stimulator, poly-D,L-lactic acid carried with hyaluronic acid, used where skin has thinned and lost body and for texture and pores. Rejuran is a polynucleotide booster made from purified salmon DNA fragments, used where skin looks tired, dry or worn and needs repair more than bulk. Rewind holds both.

They serve different layers of the same list of complaints, and a single course can include both when the doctor judges it useful.

Patients often arrive having read that both are skin boosters, which is true and not very helpful. The category covers products with very different jobs. Juvelook leaves particles behind that the skin gradually builds collagen around, so its effect is felt as firmness and softness. Rejuran leaves no scaffold; its nucleotide chains act as a repair signal and are metabolised, so its effect shows as skin quality and has to be maintained.

The consultation question is therefore easy to state: is the skin mainly thin, or mainly worn? Many faces are both, and the answer then becomes a matter of order.

How Juvelook and Rejuran each change the skin

The two products are injected into the same layer of skin and then do quite different things there.

01Juvelook

Particles that stay and prompt collagen

The polylactic acid in a Juvelook vial is broken down slowly while the surrounding tissue lays down new collagen. Research on the biological basis of polylactic-acid augmentation describes this as a tissue response to the particles, so the result arrives over weeks and the stronger vial is placed with care.

02Rejuran

A signal that is metabolised

The polynucleotide chains in Rejuran carry no volume. They are placed as a grid of small deposits, act on the skin's repair behaviour and are then broken down, so what improves is quality and hydration, and the effect is kept by repeating it.

03Eyes

Both have an under-eye option

Rejuran Eye is a dedicated line for the thin skin below the eye. On the Juvelook side, the poly-D,L form has been studied for nonsurgical lower eyelid rejuvenation in Asian patients. Which one suits your lower lid depends on whether the issue is crepey texture or hollowness.

04History

Different questions at the medical history

Because Rejuran is derived from salmon, any sensitivity to fish-derived material is raised before it is chosen. For Juvelook, the key history question is any previous lump or nodule after a biostimulator injection.

Sequencing

Can Juvelook and Rejuran be done in the same course?

Yes, when the skin needs both jobs done. Rewind lists the two in separate packages, Rejuran Healer in its recovery programme and Juvelook Skin in its elasticity programme, which reflects the different complaints they address. A plan that uses both is written for you by the doctor.

01Order

Repair first, or build first

When skin is irritated, dry or recovering, the doctor may begin with the repair booster and add the stimulator later. When thinning is the main complaint, the order can be reversed. Rewind has no published fixed sequence; it is set on your skin.

02Spacing

Two injections, one review schedule

Combining products means the doctor has to judge what each one did. Appointments are spaced so the effect of one can be seen before the next is added, and the intervals are written into your plan at consultation.

03Limits

Neither product lifts

If the concern is a fold or a jaw line that has dropped, neither a booster nor a stimulator will move it. The doctor says so at the first visit and explains the non-surgical options for laxity.

You are examined by the medical director, the product and zone are agreed, and the injection follows. For Juvelook, the clinic's record specifies a numbing cream and no sutures. For Rejuran, comfort is raised at booking and settled with the doctor before the first point is placed. The clinic takes appointments only, on the fourth and fifth floors of the Richro Building in Gangnam, Seoul, closing at 19:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and at 16:00 on Saturday.

Neither is recommended when the concern is descent, with active infection or inflamed acne at the site, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or shortly after a different injection in the same zone. Rewind issues a separate aftercare sheet for each product. They overlap on heat, alcohol and sun, and they differ on whether the skin should be touched.

Facial massage, strong pressure, alcohol, smoking, sauna and swimming pools are avoided for two to three days. Moisturise the area.

Both are injections and share the common risks: bruising, swelling, redness and tenderness. With Juvelook, firm nodules in the treated plane are the complication monitored for; with Rejuran, an allergic reaction is the specific concern. Infection and vascular occlusion are rare with either and are serious. Contact the clinic promptly about increasing pain, pale or dusky skin, or a new lump.

Juvelook vs Rejuran: questions from the consultation desk

Should I choose Juvelook or Rejuran?
Choose by what bothers you most. If skin has thinned and lost body, or pores and fine lines come with laxity, Juvelook is usually discussed. If skin looks dry, dull or tired while volume holds, Rejuran is usually discussed. Many patients have both concerns, and the doctor sets the priority.
Can Juvelook and Rejuran be done in the same course?
Yes, when both concerns are present. Rewind places them in separate packages, Rejuran Healer in its recovery programme and Juvelook Skin in its elasticity programme, so a combined plan is written individually. The doctor decides the order and spacing so the effect of each product can be judged.
My main concern is crepey skin under the eyes. Which product fits?
For crepey lower-lid texture, Rewind stocks Rejuran Eye, a line made for that thin skin. Hollowness under the eye is a separate problem, and the poly-D,L form in Juvelook has been researched there in Asian patients. Which description matches your eyes is settled at examination.
Which one shows results sooner?
Juvelook can make skin look hydrated within a day because of its hyaluronic acid, a look that fades while the collagen effect builds over weeks. The improvement in skin quality from Rejuran also develops gradually. Neither is a same-day change like a filler, so timing matters before an event.
Which one costs less for a first session?
It depends on the plan. On the list, one Rejuran Healer 2cc treatment is ₩300,000 and one Juvelook vial is ₩700,000, VAT excluded, but vial count and repeat visits change the total. The doctor writes both options out if you are undecided.
I have a fish allergy. Does that rule out Rejuran?
It has to be discussed before the product is chosen, since Rejuran is made from salmon-derived DNA. Rewind's aftercare also notes that an allergic reaction to specific ingredients can cause red inflammation. The Juvelook label lists polylactic acid and hyaluronic acid, and the doctor reviews it with you.
Does either one lift sagging skin?
No. Juvelook adds body to thinned skin and Rejuran improves skin quality; neither raises tissue that has descended. If a jaw line or fold has dropped, the doctor explains this at the first visit and discusses which non-surgical devices address laxity.
What side effects are specific to each?
Shared ones first: a few days of bruising, swelling, redness or tenderness. Specific to Juvelook is the chance of a firm nodule where the particles sit; specific to Rejuran, being salmon-derived, is an allergic response. Infection and blocked blood vessels are rare with both and need urgent attention.
