How long is recovery after a mini facelift?

The short answer

Recovery after Rewind's mini facelift runs in stages. A compression dressing stays on for about one week. Daily life then returns step by step, while strenuous activity is put off: the clinic's sheet for facial lifting asks for at least four weeks without hard exercise, saunas or steam rooms. Sun protection and scar care continue for months. Rewind does not publish a day for stitch removal, so that date is set by the surgeon at review.

A shorter incision is the main reason people expect a quicker recovery from a mini lift. Rewind's instructions do not bear that out for the first week: the compression period given for the mini lift matches the one given for the full facelift. The clinic ties the early swelling of the full lift to its wide dissection and makes no matching statement for the mini lift, so any difference beyond the first week is judged at review.

01Surgery

Surgery day ends in a compression dressing

Once the line in the hairline and around the ear is closed, the face goes into compression. The anaesthetic method and the time in theatre are not published for the mini lift and are explained at consultation.

02Week one

About a week of compression, and hands off the face

Rewind asks for the dressing to be kept on for around a week. Under it, the face is not pressed, rubbed or massaged. Pain and swelling during this period belong to normal healing.

03Review

The mini facelift line is checked and the next steps are set

At review the surgeon examines the incision and decides on stitch removal and on what you can resume. Rewind publishes no fixed day for either, so both follow the wound.

04To week four

Daily life returns while the four-week limits stay

Ordinary activity comes back gradually. Strenuous exercise, saunas and steam rooms stay out until at least four weeks have passed, and alcohol, smoking and strong massage wait for the period the surgeon sets.

05Months

The scar matures under sunscreen

Sun protection and scar management continue while the line matures. Rewind records more than five years of durability for the mini lift, with individual variation, and careful aftercare is part of protecting it.

The fee for the operation, ₩3,000,000, stays the same however long you stay. Extra nights in Seoul while the line is checked are a travel cost, and they are worth budgeting before surgery.

Planning a mini facelift stay in Seoul

  • Arrive in time for the in-person examination, since the scope, and with it the plan, is confirmed there
  • Stay at least through the week of compression dressing

  • Book a changeable return flight, because Rewind publishes no fixed number of days for this operation

A mini facelift can bring bleeding, haematoma, infection, prolonged swelling, asymmetry, numbness or altered sensation, injury to branches of the facial nerve and a scar that heals unevenly.
